Outlook LDAP address book connector -> sending to user is working -> sending to Groups is not working
Hello,
Situation:
I have already posted the same question to the office 365 forum
http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/170/t/73372.aspx
I have configured an outlook ldap address book conection to one of our Active Directory server (windows 2008 R2 Enterprise Server) through LDAP
Here is the link of the how-to
https://helpdesk.wisc.edu/wiscmail/page.php?id=13789
When I open a mail and send a mail to a simple user the emails reaches the user.
Problem:
When I open a mail and send a mail to a distribution group (where the same users tested bevore are in) i get directly a message back to my outlook with the following text:
_______________________________________________________________________________

I have tried all combination of Distribution and even security groups. None of them are working
What do I need to configure that Outlook can use the Groups in Microsoft AD as a distribution list?
Many Thanks
Roman

Roman,
this appears to be more of an Exchange - rather than Active Directory issue (especially considering that your communication with AD appears to be working fine)- as that's where distribution groups are configurable (at least in the recent versions of Exchange).

Have you contacted your help desk or Exchange admin? Do you have
permission to send to those distribution groups? If you're using
Outlook with an LDAP address book you're probably using SMTP to send
the message. If that's so you should probably be using port 587 to
send the messages, not port 25. Using port 587 requires you to
authenticate with your SMTP server.
How your admin has things configured is up to him to tell you.

Hi Roman,
I think you need to check whether these groups are mail enabled group or not.
If these groups are not mail enabled group, you cannot send emails to that groups.
